研修の六日目

With this post, almost a full week has passed in out time here and Niseko, and I am slightly reluctant to leave Milky House after having one of the best experiences in my 24 years of existence. While it was a tiring day tending to 11 guests today, the gratitude from the guests enjoying their time here more than made up for it. I'm pretty sure I won't forget this easily.

My highlight of the day was definitely the interaction session with the coordinators for International Relations working for Niseko town. It was eye-opening to see people from as far away as Austria, join us 6 students in an interaction, I learnt quite a lot about working in Japan from a foreigner's point of view.

During dinner, I let slip that it was my birthday the next day. The owner insisted on bringing out the watermelon that was in the refrigerator, which i believe was meant for the customers' breakfast the next day.To be honest, I feel quite embarrassed by all his hospitality during the past week. If only the people of Singapore were as welcoming.

Well, time to pack up my bags in anticipation of a night's stay at an onsen. I truly hope to be back in Niseko again.

今朝、お客さんが帰りました。子供達は朝牧場に行って、駝鳥と牛と馬を見ました。皆さんスイスの伝統な楽器を吹いてみました。ご覧の通り、子供達はすごく上手だと思います！



そして、今日の研修はニセコ町の商工観光課の国際交流員の方々と交流しました。それだけではなくて、ミルキーハウスのスタッフも一緒に参加しました。みんなとも外国人なので、いろいろな経験を話して、国の文化やここの仕事や町民方のつき合いなどのことをいいました。すごくおもしろかったです。




一週間は本当に速く過ごしてしまいました。明日、ミルキーハウスでの研修は終わります。
この一週間、いろいろなことをしました。牧場に行ったり、町の人々と交流したり、ガーデニングをしたりしました。都市で住んでいる私達にとって、すべでのことは珍しい経験になります。
この一週間は毎日早く起きて、いろいろな仕事をして、大変疲れたと思いますが、とても勉強になりました。




オーナーさん：牧場や神仙沼などに連れて行って、ありがとうございました。仕事をするとき、迷惑をかけて、申し訳ございませんでした。また、ガーデニングなどについて、いろいろ教えてくださって、ぜひ忘れないようにして、将来必ず役に立つと思います。

文子さん：おいしい夕食を作ってくださって、ありがどうございました。台湾に帰ったあと、文子さんの料理を忘れられなくて、もう一度食べたいと思います。

エリさんとグローンさん：手伝うとき、迷惑をかけて、すみませんでした。また、いろいろなことを教えて、ありがとうございました。




要するに、この一週間いろいろお世話になって、本当にありがとうございました！
また、ミルキーハウスが大好きです！
チャンスがあったら、ぜひ帰りたいと思います。冬のニセコがすばらしくて、来たいと思います。

さて、2012/07/28（土）二時に、あそぶっくで私達の自国紹介の発表があります。皆さん、時間があったら、ぜひ聞きに来てください！

研修の五日目

Woah, it's already the fifth day. Time really flies when you are having fun and tired from all the gardening, Hahaha.

Today' schedule for the experiential program involves and interaction session with the volunteers at the local library, known as the Asobook, an amalgamation of the words 'asobi', which means to play, as well as 'book'. The volunteers run various programs catered the local Niseko population of all ages. I was most impressed by the handmade books by some of the volunteers, there were pull together with various pieces of cloth, with various stitching patterns to arrive at pictures and other textures.

It was a really fun session, and I hope they would have a great time as well, when it is our turn to give a presentation about our individual countries come Saturday. Come to think of it, I should rehearse a bit more so I don't stumble over my words. I really hope I don't disappoint.

Back at the pension, we broke up into groups, and I ended up with gardening duty again. At least this time would most likely be the last given that there's only 1 full day left of our time at Milky House. Looking on the bright side, I do need the workout after all the food I have been eating. Hokkaido really is a land of delicious food. I'm starting to think I need to come back to Hokkaido again for winter.

時間は本当に速いですね！
いつの間にかもう研修の五日目です。
今日、ニセコ町の『ニセコ町学習交流センターあそぶっく』でボランティア方と交流しました。
ボランティアの皆さんはとても優しいし、詳しく活動の内容を紹介してくれてありがとうございます。
やっぱり子供たちと一緒に遊んだり、絵本を読んだりすることが一番嬉しいと思います。



この土曜日、僕たちはあそぶっくで自分の国を紹介します。
僕たちは台湾とシンガポールからきた研修生なので、今回国の紹介をしたいと思います。皆さんもし時間があれば、是非来てください。



あそぶっくから帰って、ガーデニングをしました。でも、今日はミルキーハウスじゃなくて、ある広くてきれいな別荘でしました。
別荘に住んだら、とてもいいと思いますが、掃除すると、とても大変です。だから、昨日言った、もしお金持ちになったら、ニセコで別荘を買いたいという話は、ちょっと考えた方がいいです。




さて、今、オーナーさんからくれたアイスクリームを食べながら、ブログを書いていて、久しぶりのアイスクリームなので、とても幸せです。

研修の四日目

Like the previous days, the day started with farm visits, this time taking a different route to different farms. Instead of ostriches and cows, we came across chicken coops and horses.

For a change, there wasn't any planned activities during the day for us 6 students on the experiential program. The owner offered to drive us to do some sightseeing at at Ooyu Marsh & Shinsen Marsh, one of the larger sightseeing spots in the Niseko area. Thankfully the early morning fog cleared so that we can enjoy all the great scenery the marshes has to offer.

For dinner, the three of us finally got to enjoy the rich seafood that Hokkaido has to offer, as well as some delicious barbecued meat. An entire Hanazono crab all to ourselves, how luxurious!

At night all of us traveled to a nearby youth hostel to listen to a short talk about a how a man decided to move and settle in Niseko. Quiet an eventful day.

昨日の朝、お客さんと一緒に牧場に行きました。



今回は、メロンやトマトの畑を見ました。そこで、新鮮なトマトを食べ、甘くて、びっくりしました。



また、かっこういい馬も見に行きました。乗らなくて、残念でした。





あと、大湯沼と神仙沼に行きました。大湯沼は温泉がある、景色がいいところですが、昨日、霧が濃かったので、あまり見られなかったです。そして、台湾の国家公園みたいな神仙沼の景もがきれいだし、空気も新鮮です。神仙沼に着くとき、晴れたので、森があって、沼もきれいに見られて、よかったと思いました。







午後、お客さんと一緒にBBQをしました。オーナーさんが焼いてくださった焼き物がとてもおいしかったです。また、かにとスイカもたくさん食べて、おなかがいっぱいになりました。



夜、ニセコのガイド養成セミナーで、ニセコ移住者のスピーチを聞きに行きました。福岡から移住してきた来たファミリーが自分で建てた家のはなしを聞いて、感心しました。
もし自分がお金持ちになったら、ぜひニセコで自分の家を建てようと思いました。

乗馬は、最初に馬場の中でレクチャーし、基本操作の練習をしてから　のんびり外を散策するコースなので、初心者でも安心です。

ここには、小型のポニーがたくさんいて、子供の乗馬にうれしいかも。馬と遊んだりブラシかけをして

次の写真は、早朝の牧場ツアーで、たまにまわっている宮田地区の堀牧場。
ついでに　この馬は、ばんえい競馬で見かける重量馬「ペルシュロン」以前レースでチャンピオンになったこともあッ手、現在種馬として活躍中。1トン以上もある巨体にを世話する、親からが、りりしい。

研修の三日目

Today, we joined our customers on a tour of various farms around Niseko town. Taii and Jey had hands-on experience feeding ostriches at one of our stops, while I decided to stay a bit further back due to an unfortunate experience with ostriches when i was on holiday in Australia. Apart from farmed animals, we also stopped to pick up fresh milk as well as for photos at a potato plantation for instance, I never knew potato plants had such beautiful purple and white flowers.

During the afternoon, we were joined by our fellow coursemates currently on attachment to Pension Cotton Farm on a radio talk show on Radio Niseko. We were asked about our experiences thus far in Niseko as well details about the experiential program at Hokkaido University. The conversation managed to evolve into our musical preferences, and I was pretty much coerced into admitting my preference for Mizuki Nana, leading to a question which confirmed my hobby of watching anime. It was an enjoyable experience, though I was somewhat relieved after the program ended.

Back at Milky House, we were commended on a job well done about the radio show. We also took a grateful break from gardening to help out in the kitchen, as well as serving prepared food to the customers. Jey managed to achieve our worst fears by spilling some food, thankfully the food managed to be rescued afterwards.

Tomorrow beckons a welcomed break from lessons, hopefully the weather would be go so that we can enjoy the view from the top of the Niseko Annupuri mountain.

今朝、お客さんとオーナーさんと一緒に牧場に行きました。
牧場で、駝鳥と牛も飼っているので、びっくりしました。
台湾で牧場に行ったことがありましたが、そんなに近く牛を見たことがあまりないので、とてもおもしろかったです。そして、駝鳥にえさをやって、印象に残りました。

そして、午後、ニセコの「道の駅」を見学しました。「道の町」は町民の農家たちは自分で栽培した農産物をそこで販売する所です。そして、そこでミルキーハウスの手作りジャムも売っています。朝ご飯のとき、ふわふわしているパンとジャムは最高です！！また、休憩機能もあって道路利用者も使えるので、すごく便利だと思います。


また、私達は北海道ニセコ町のコミュニティFMラジオ局「ラジオニセコ」で今回の研修についての内容を話しました。ラジオの生放送も初めての経験なので、大変楽しかったです。そして、ペンションに戻ってから、七時２０分再放送を聞いて、恥ずかしかったです。

羊蹄山とダチョウの放牧は、何ともアンマッチングな風景に写るが、ここのダチョウたちは、北海道の気候にも順応して　いたってたくましい。　観光客に１００円で、ダチョウのエサも販売してるので、エサやりをしてみると　いっそう楽しめる。

今、25羽ほどのダチョウが放牧されている。　黒い羽が、オス　茶色の羽がメスで、卵を採って、子供のダチョウを繁殖してる。
近寄って来ると、何となく恐ろしい顔をしている。　ETみたいな雰囲気で、エサを手に近寄ると、飼料を突っつきに来る。

研修の二日目

今日は研修の二日目です。
朝、オーナーさんと一緒にニセコの案内をしました。牧場に行ったり、甘露の泉を飲んだりしました。水は冷たくて、おいしかったですので、私達はとてもびっくりしました。
また、昨日名古屋から来ましたお客様は帰りました。見送るとき、スイスの伝統な楽器を吹いて、とてもおもしろかったです。オーナーさんとお客様は上手ですが、私達はあまり出来なかったです。
それから、講義を聞いて、ニセコにもっと詳しく知っているようになっています。

帰ってから、畑の仕事を続きました。僕たちはこんなことをやったことがないので、実際にすると、本当に疲れましたが楽しかったです。しかし、実際に体験したら、その辛さがわかっていました。

今日、お客様５人いらっしゃいました。明日も一生懸命がんばります！

Today, we were given a short tour around the Annupuri area of Niseko by the owner of Milky House, after a trip to a farm to collect fresh milk for the day. We also stopped at a natural spring where we drank the emerging snowmelt. It was cold and very refreshing.

We sent off our dear customers from Nagoya with the owner's rendition on the alphorn, then posed for photos as shown below. We took turns trying the alphorn. It was harder than imagined, but one of us took to it like a fish to water. I still couldn't succeed despite multiple attempts.

As part of our language program we were at Niseko's People Centre for a few lectures before returning to Milky House to continue work on the garden.

With 5 customers for the day, all of us will continue to work hard. Please look forward to our next post.

ニセコ フットパス祭り

週末のフットパス祭りの　目玉に尻別川沿いの遊歩道を50年ぶりに　復刻というか、笹藪を刈って、昔あった川沿いの旧道を歩けるようにした。
　ニセコのフットパスの会の　ボランティアでオーナーもお手伝い。得意の草刈機で半日参戦。ぐったり疲れて帰ってきました。　
　川沿いの　静かな散歩道になってくれればいいけど、何カ所か沢の水で、湿地のようになってるヶ所があり、木を切って、足場を確保するなど　ちょっと大変、　　ほんとに、先人の苦労が忍ばれました。

北海道新聞予告記事
ニセコの自然や名所を徒歩で巡り、地域の魅力を再発見する。祭りに合わせて幅広いコースを設定したほか、フットパスの楽しさを紹介する講演会もあり、盛りだくさんの内容だ。
２１日は午後１時すぎから、「文学歴史の散歩道」（１０・６キロ）を散策。ニセコ町ゆかりの作家有島武郎の小説「親子」に登場する坂や、有島が農地解放を宣言した弥照（いやてる）神社、有島記念館を巡る。
この後、ニセコ町民センターで、環境ジャーナリストの石弘之さんの講演や、国内外のフットパス事情に精通した酪農学園大（江別市）の小川巌教授や片山健也町長らのてい談、石さんらも参加する交流会などが開かれる。
２２日は、ニセコ連峰や羊蹄山の眺望を楽しみながら尻別川沿いを歩く「ローカルコース」（約１１キロ、２時間半）と、神仙沼やチセヌプリを巡り、高山植物を観察する「山岳コース」（約１２キロ、３時間）のうち、どちらかを選択して散策する。

Experiencing Japanese Culture in a pension

留学生をもっと北海道に増やそうよ！といった目的で、北海道大学の大学院が、アジアの学生を北大に招いて　観光産業従事者を増やそう　というプログラムが、ニセコ町を舞台に行われています。
この一環で、我がミルキーハウスでも、アジアの学生を3名、1週間受け入れることになりました。

ミルキーハウスでは、お客さん扱いせずに、スタッフと同じ扱いで、６日間の滞在をしてもらいます。

Today, I arrived at Milky House as part of an experiential language program offered by Hokkaido University. This program involves 2 universities from Taiwan and another from Singapore, of which I am from from For the next few days, I will be attached to the pension, helping out in the various chores required as given by the owner. I am joined by 2 other Taiwanese students for this experience.

We arrived at around 3pm. After a briefing by the owner of the pension, we were then tasked to help out in the garden. It involved weeding as well as tilling the soil so that different plants will be grown in it's place. The following photographs show us at work and after work. By the way, I'm the one holding up the thumbs up sign after the completion of work for the day.

We are looking forward to many more experiences here and learning from the owner of Milky House

皆さん、こんばんは。

台湾とシンガポールから来た学生です。

今回、北海道大学日本語体験型プログラムに参加して、この一週間ニセコ町のペンションで研修します。

今日午後、ミルキーハウスに到着して、オーナーさんに会いました。

そして、ガーデニングをして、みんなは初めての体験だから、とても楽しかったです。

オーナーさんとスタッフのみんなは優しくて、親切です。

今晩の歓迎会もとても楽しかったです。

明日のことも楽しみにしています。

まず1日目は、昼間3時間ほどガーデニング体験。
雑草畑になっていた、花壇を開墾します。

みんな、勉強ばかりのデスクワーク。
土の上で働くことなんか、初めてじゃないかな？
いろんな虫が　出てきたり　恐怖のスズメバチが来襲したりして大変だったけど、こんなにキレイになりました。
